Road food: Wood Creek Cafe in Jamestown, CA

Wood Creek Cafe

Heading out to mark a year anniversary of the Adventurers walk around Pinecrest Lake –  the beginning of their hanging out together – the Adventurers stopped in Jamestown for lunch at the Wood Creek Cafe.

The reviews on TripAdvisor had been enthusiastic about the cafe’s food – breakfast and lunch only – and cow-centric decor. The Adventurers agreed about the decor – black and white spots were everywhere you looked, including a large marlin over the mantlepiece.

But they were much less enthusiastic about the food, both ordering the Big Dipper special hamburger. Unfortunately the “au jus” was not enough to mask a tasteless, overcooked piece of meat. The accompanying cole slaw was good, but not enough to warrant return visit. Or recommend the cafe to others…
