Heading down the Big Sur coast for a hike at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park

lunch at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park

The Adventurers decided that today would be there “big” adventure, so the journeyed south beyond Big Sur for a hike at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. D had mapped out a loop trail using a route up the canyon and to an overlook on the Ewoldson trail. (There’s also an overlook across Hwy 1 where the whale watching is good, but they didn’t discover that until after their they’d returned.)

It was a decent, steady pull up but not a true butt kicker. The payoff was a rest stop on a bluff overlooking the Pacific…

Hike/moderate with some short, steep pulls/6.5 miles
