Adventure Thursday activity is close to home preview of Sunset Celebration Weekend

Sara Schneider and L at SunsetThe Adventurers did more eating and sipping than exercising today as they attended a press preview of what will be the last Celebration Weekend at Sunset magazine’s headquarters in Menlo Park. Parent company Time, Inc. sold the seven-acre campus last December to Embarcadero Capital Partners, a San Francisco real estate investment and management company. Earlier this week, the publishing company announced it was moving to Oakland’s Jack London Square.

They did do a morning jog (just for the record), then headed to Sunset, an icon for those, like them, who grew up in Menlo Park. The preview took them to the magazine’s gardens, kitchens, and for the first time, wine cellar, all lead by various editors. It made L think of her fondness for print publications that always celebrated Christmas in August (due to publishing deadlines).

L had interviewed Garden Editor Kathy Brenzel and Food Editor Margo True prior to the preview but met Wine Editor Sara Schneider for the first time, who opened a number of bottles that had scored high in the magazine’s wine competition. D snapped the bonding moment…
