A day in three parts spent in the Sierras

Truckee River in Truckee

On their last full day in the Truckee area, the Adventurers decided to make the most of it.

D and The Mag snowshoeingFirst up was snowshoeing at the Tahoe Donner cross country facility. They’d become aware of the great TD complex a few summers back when they rented a house there. The activities and dining options for members – and non-members – are numerous.

The dog-friendly trek took them up slightly from the Alderbrook lodge around a loop. Given that it was only 1 1/2 miles long, they did it twice.

Next, they stopped at Truckee River Winery for tasting and lunch. They’d heard that on of the pinots was from Gary’s vineyard in the Santa Lucia area, which they’d just become familiar with on their New Year’s getaway.

Then, the parked back at their cottage and walked into Truckee to buy the grandkids postcards and to just see what was going on. They paused to watch the Truckee River flow.

That the weather continues to cooperate – no coat or gloves on the second snowshoe trek- makes it even nicer to be out and about…
