Taking a walking tour of the old horse stomping grounds near the Rose Bowl

D on trail near Rose BowlToday was a very Pasadena kind of day that started with church at All Saints. This would be their last opportunity to hear Ed Bacon preach as he is retiring in a couple of weeks. And he didn’t disappoint with a sermon titled “God is not a Christian.” You gotta love it (if you are ecumenically minded).

Next stop was lunch with the twins and their parents at PitFire, a pizza joint that the kids enjoy followed by a little visiting pre-nap time.

While the kiddies and parents napped, the Adventurers headed down toward the Brookside golf course and Rose Bowl that L knows from her horseback riding days has a series of trails. Given the huge population nearby, the trails were fairly empty of hikers, although there were people walking around the paved portion. Only in LA…

Hike/easy/4.5 miles
