Back in the hiking groove with a trip to Marin County

D and Mag on Mt Tam_verticalWhile the Adventurers often go south to Santa Cruz County to hike (or kayak), they rarely go north of San Francisco to Marin County. The distance is about the same but it’s a bit of a pain to get through the City going north.

But today they decided to head that way with D mapping a good hike to Cataract Falls. The  gotcha was when they got there they found it was in Mt. Tamalpais State Park where dogs aren’t allowed on trails. They hadn’t realized Mr. Tam had a state park.

So a quick search revealed a good dog hike nearby on Marin water land and the Mt. Tam watershed, up an old rail road grade on Blithesdale Ridge. It was forested and still green and the views up top were jaw-dropping, with clear views of San Francisco for one vantage point and Mt. Tam’s peak from another.

They’ve vowed to do more exploring of Marin County…
