First hike of trip is around Chimney Rock in Sedona

The Adventurers took the long way from Phoenix to Sedona, going through the towns of Wickenberg, Prescott (where they ate lunch) and Jerome (where they couldn’t stop because it was chock-a-block full of tourists on a Sunday). But they still arrived in Sedona in time for a hike in the afternoon.

They took off from their hotel, the Adobe Grand Villas, through an adjoining neighborhood before getting to a trailhead that took them on a loop hike with Chimney Rock the main feature.

Along the way, L spotted a pretty purple cactus that was flowering. She learned later that the purple is ornamental and if in the wild means a sick cactus…
