More water, water everywhere – and wildflowers too – at Baylands

D was less than enthused about doing the Adventurer’s Tuesday hike at Baylands/Byxbee parks in Palo Alto. He felt it was a bit of “been there, done that.” But they were looking for a flat hike to balance the week, given that they plan to hike up Windy Hill on Thursday. (Just waiting for it to dry out some more.)

Off they went, and were treated to a nice surprise. The work that’s long been underway on adjacent land that was once part dump/part landfill, is now open for hiking. So they did a whole new and different route than their usual, and got some great top of the hill views of the Bay to the East and coast range to the West.

Like Arastradero, there was water everywhere, with new streams and new ponds, filled with ducks and geese. Plus, there was a great display of wildflowers in many places.

What was supposed to be boring turned out delightful…
