Walking the Dish amidst memories of the Cassie years

Today was a Maggie grooming day, so as they usually do, the Adventurers planned a route where dogs aren’t allowed, in this case the loop up, down and around Stanford’s Big Dish.

It was a cloudy morning and they could see rain falling on the hills to the west. L thought the sky was perfect for setting off the oaks and other foliage. D said he’d prefer sun.

The Dish has always had a special place in L’s heart. It was here every Saturday that late husband Chris and wonder dog Cassie would exercise, at least until Stanford forbade dogs. And it was near the top aside the Big Dish where some of Chris’s ashes were spread.

All this was much on L’s mind as it was 36 years ago today that she wed Chris. Tomorrow she starts a adventure with D. How lucky she’s been – and is…
