Exploring the watery world of Venice

The Adventurers agreed on one thing. Venice was almost exactly like they thought it would be. That doesn’t mean is was fabulous or awful, rather just how they’d imagined it.

When they landed this afternoon shortly afternoon (after the long flight to Frankfurt connected to Italy), they started on a very Jame Bond note with a private water taxi ride from Marco Polo airport to a dock near their lovely hotel, Ca’ Pisani. L loves the photo of the people in the gondola where it looks, at first glance, like the man is wearing a gondola hat. But look closer.

After some feet up time, they took a nice two-mile jaunt around the Dourodoro neighborhood, which included some picturesque canals, some of which they walked up and down. That they couldn’t quite forget that it was a movie set or something at Disneyland is beside the point.

Dinner was thanks to the advice of friend Amy, a colleague during the Antics years, at Ristorante AiĀ Gondolieri. And it was yummy…

You will enjoy the Piazza San Marco, the interior of the church and the Doges Palace. Such splendor and wealth the church had! But the food– we never had a bad meal! Keep us posted.
