Getting a taste of the forest in Russian Gulch State Park

Let not the happy smile on D’s face (right) mask what was a tricky in parts hike to the waterfall on the Fern Canyon trail in Russian Gulch State Park.

The Adventurers had run into a local dining last not who convinced them that the waterfall loop hike was one of the better options in the area, so that’s where the headed this morning.

Maybe he hadn’t hiked it for awhile and seen all the wash-outs that L found hard to navigate. But the persevered and rather than the longer loop when out and back on the same trail.

No doubt the beauty, but oh very a bit more trail maintenance…

Hike/moderate/5.5 miles
