A birthday bash to end all birthday bashes at the Fillmore West

The Adventurers and a dozen or so of their grade/high school friends were among the 200 guests that attended good friend Cathy’s 70th birthday bash as the Fillmore West in San Francisco last night.

The venue was where Aretha Franklin, Santana and many others performed in the last 60s and L may have seen the Birds there (although it could have been at larger Fillmore).

San Francisco party planner extraordinaire Stanlee Gatti transformed the space into a hooka lounge (where cocktails were served) and dining/dancing space adorned with bubbles. The photos here don’t do it justice and will look forward to seeing what the two pros who snapped photographers throughout captured.

Upon arrival, guests were ferried by vintage VW Summer of Love vans up two flights where they were credited by a group of Hare Krishnas. Inside the lounge they poised for photos including a with Julie and John (the latter being Cathy’s godson). And yes, L has purple streaks in her hair.

Dancing was down in earnest thanks to a band that played mostly Motown, with guest appearances by “the Supremes” and the “Four Tops.” Some dancers got in the big bubbles to dance, including the birthday girl herself

Needless to say, a good time was had by all…

Fabulous party, and you two (four) look incredible too! Reminds me of the party Cathy threw for you at her home where the Motown singers performed for you.And happy birthday to Cathy!
