Discovering a new trail that’s pretty even with smokey skies

The Adventurers and the Mag set out this morning for a short but pretty hike on a new-to-them trail in Thornewood Open Space Preserve, one that makes a lot more sense to them.

Instead of starting off of Hwy. 84 and descending to Schilling Lake, the took the Bridle Trail adjacent to Dennis Martin Creek and climbed up to Schilling Lake. Along the way they passed through forests of second growth redwood and oak woodland. Very nice.

They got they’re climbing down right away. The sky had lingering smoke, less so as they got higher, or so it seemed. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be washed away by rain…

Hike/easy with a few good  climbs/2.6 miles
